Ivern comes from a location in William Shakespeare’s Macbeth: Inverness Castle, modified to sound more Freljordian and druidic. Other possible influences are Old Norse Ivar “yew-fighter” (Freljordian) and tribal name Iverni, from Proto-Celtic *ɸīwerjon- “fatty, fertile > earth, soil”, whence also Éire (druidic).
