Tests include:

  1. Blood gas tests.
  2. Blood tests.
  3. Imaging test of the heart called an echocardiogram.

  5. MRI to detect AVMs in the brain.
  6. CT or ultrasound scans to detect AVMs in the liver.

Can you have HHT if your parents don t?

In HHT, an error in your genetic blueprints causes you to produce a single defective protein. That defective protein leads to the development of abnormal blood vessels. If you do not inherit the gene, you will not get HHT.

Can you take ibuprofen if you have HHT?

Acetaminophen, such as Tylenol, is recommended for HHT patients to treat minor aches, pains and reduce fever. NSAIDS (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), celecoxib (Celebrex) and others are not recommended for HHT patients.
