Can you have HHT if your parents don t?
In HHT, an error in your genetic blueprints causes you to produce a single defective protein. That defective protein leads to the development of abnormal blood vessels. If you do not inherit the gene, you will not get HHT.
Can you take ibuprofen if you have HHT?
Acetaminophen, such as Tylenol, is recommended for HHT patients to treat minor aches, pains and reduce fever. NSAIDS (nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs) such as aspirin, ibuprofen (Motrin, Advil), celecoxib (Celebrex) and others are not recommended for HHT patients.

HHT patients with treated and untreated lung AVMs should take antibiotics before any “dirty procedure” such as dental work/cleaning, tattoo or surgery. Bacteria from these procedures can travel in the blood, through the lung AVM and lodge in the brain.
