Here are all Year 8 Optional SATs Papers for you to download for free. Optional SATs papers were first created in 2003 alongside KS1, KS2 and KS3 SATs papers. Optional SATs were designed to help teachers give children a relevant “SATs-like” assessment. They are available for Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 7 and Year 8.
What are optional SATs and when are they available?

Are there any free year 3 English SATs tests?
Here are all Year 3 English Tests and Year 3 Maths Tests for you to download free of charge. These were originally released by the STA as Year 3 Optional SATs or Year 3 SATs papers.
What is the difference between year 4 and year 5 optional tests?
In years 4 and 5, the style is more similar to that used at the end of year 6. Unlike the statutory tests at the end of key stage 2, however, these optional materials are not due to be replaced annually and schools will need to store or reorder materials from year to year, as has been the case previously.
Can I use the Optional Maths papers as practice?
There are two sets of optional Maths papers available for children to use as practice papers. Because they are now a little adrift from the syllabus and the new format of KS2 tests they should not be used to mean anything definitive in terms of results.
Should I help my child prepare for the KS2 SATs?
