What supplies are needed for tube feeding?

- The amount of formula prescribed by your healthcare provider.
- An empty container.
- A cup.
- A clean cloth or paper towel.
- A container of water.
- A 60 milliliter (mL) legacy catheter tip or ENFit syringe.
- Tape.
- A button adapter, if you have one instead of a tube (see Figure 1 and 2)
How do you donate enteral formula?
The Oley Foundation has an Equipment/Supply Exchange Program to connect families who have items to donate with families in need of enteral formula, pumps, tubing and other supplies. Note that items are for donation only and there may be costs associated with shipping the formula.

Can you put chicken broth in a feeding tube?
Nearly any food can be processed in a blender using fluid (milk, chicken broth, canned formula). This should be blended until smooth and thin enough to be passed through the tube. In this way, it’s possible for the patient to “eat” the same meal their family is eating.
Is there a charity that takes medical supplies?
The American Medical Resource Foundation distributes donated medical equipment and supplies to charitable hospitals and medical clinics. They accept used items that are either functioning or able to be repaired. The Foundation can arrange for pickup of your items if needed.

How do you gain weight on a feeding tube?
If you use the bolus method for tube feeding, the most basic strategy to increase calories is to increase the volume of each bolus meal. Try slowly increasing a meal volume by 30- to 60-mL (1- to 2-ounce) increments. Often, the adult stomach can tolerate a total volume of 240–480 mL per meal.
