What is an IR pass through cable?

This DirecTV IR pass-through cable connects a DirecTV H25 Receiver to a hospitality television. Each cable utilizes the IR sensor of the television to simultaneously control the receiver box from your remote control. This cable makes the remote signal transition seamlessly between the television and receiver.

How do you hook up a IR extender to a cable box?

To use it, connect the IR Extender to the IR In input on the back of the TV Box or TV Adapter. Put the other end of the IR Extender somewhere that allows a direct line of sight between it and the remote.

Can IR go through wood?

Yes, the unit works through wood doors. I have a DirecTV receiver, DVD player, Roku & Apple TV inside a very solid particle board cabinet with wood doors; works great. Recognize the the Hub acts as an IR blaster and will bounce the IR signal off the closed doors and back to your equipment.

Where does the IR extender cable go?

Connect the IR cable to the IR out port on the back of the TV and position the emitter near to the device that you want to control and then select OK to continue. The IR Extender cable relays signals between your TV and other devices.

Can infrared remote go through wood?

Also, your remotes won’t work through a wood cabinet door, but will through metal sheeting. You can also use an RF remote control system that allows you to keep your TV electronics in another room — I’ll add a link to that at the end of the post.

What is better IR or RF?

RF, on the other hand, can work over much longer distances and can pass through various materials which IR can’t. This allows the user much greater flexibility & control in areas where there are obstacles & terrain blocking the users line-of-sight.
